Paul is a physics graduate from the University of Southampton, with over twenty years of consultancy experience, plus more than ten in manufacturing. He has worked in most sectors in Europe and the USA.

Ciarán is the Director of Coillte's Nature and Land Solutions. He has held a range of senior management roles in Coillte over the last nine years and has prior experience working in the public and private sectors. He holds a BSc in Engineering, an MSc in Environmental Sustainability and a PhD from UCD.

Managing Director, Environment Analyst

Ross has been with Environment Analyst for over a decade. He is now the Managing Director, and is heavily involved in managing content across our platforms, and developing ongoing and meaningful relationships with all our members. Ross is an experienced journalist, sub editor and analyst with deep background knowledge in
a range of topics including environmental policy, sustainable development and
environmental assessments. He has a MSc in Environmental Dynamics and Climate Change from Swansea University.

BOGI HOJGAARD

Bogi Hojgaard, Associate Director of Energy Transition, Programmes and Innovation, Carbon Trust

Bogi has a focus on system modelling and energy flexibility, primarily in the UK. Prior to joining the Carbon Trust, he led the 16-strong Data & Analytics team at the Low Carbon Contracts Company, delivering a state-of-the-art data portal, and building the capability to in-house the complex CfD forecasting model. He provided advice to the UK Government on future-proofing CfDs for future renewable electricity as well as on the extension of CfDs to Carbon Capture and Storage and hydrogen production. Previously, Bogi worked for EDF Energy conducting long-term energy scenario analysis with a focus on a systems approach on low carbon heat and transport. More recently, he has been delivering pre-feasibility studies on early coal retirement in Asia.

CONOR LYDON

Head of Groundwater & Geothermal UK & Ireland, Tetra Tech

Conor Lydon is a qualified geologist, hydrogeologist, and Chartered Environmentalist. He holds the position of Director at Tetra Tech and is Head of Geothermal & Groundwater Services in the UK and Ireland. Over the last 20 years Conor has focused on the management of groundwater and the use of geothermal resources. Conor has assessed the feasibility, designed and tested hundreds of groundwater and geothermal boreholes domestically and internationally.

Nicola is a senior energy specialist with over 22 years’ experience managing assets and delivering complex technical and commercial projects within time and budget constraints. A respected leader, Nicola’s project experience includes the identification, development and delivery of wind and renewable energy projects from feasibility to financial close, negotiation and management of high value construction contracts, bid process management, due diligence, grid connection, offtake arrangements and asset management.

Adam has 20 years of experience inspiring CEOs and businesses across sectors, to design, build and execute pioneering sustainability strategies and solutions. He has worked with leaders across industry, government, NGOs, and the start-up world to take a systems-based, collaborative approach – resulting in impactful transformations.   

Prior to Wipro, Adam built and led the Johnson Controls Sustainable Infrastructure and held sustainability consulting leadership positions with Xynteo and PwC.

Guy Thompson has extensive experience of environmental policy and regulation, having worked to accelerate action on nature and climate recovery in senior executive roles in the private, public and voluntary sectors.  

 

Guy has a dual role with Wessex Water as Group Director of Environmental Futures and Managing Director of EnTrade, a Wessex Water business that is creating and operating high-integrity environmental markets.

HOWARD WAPLES

Director - Natural Capital, Tetra Tech

Howard has specialised in protecting and enhancing the natural and built environment through processes including EIA, ecosystem services and natural capital studies. He works across infrastructure, urban regeneration, government and corporate sectors, and specialises in the key overlapping areas of natural capital, climate change and human health assessment. He has used approaches for assessing ecosystem services and natural capital at a development project level, and supported Natural England with their innovative Environmental Benefits of Nature tool.

Communities & Partnership Lead, Institution of Environmental Sciences (IES)

Ethny is responsible for supporting the IES Communities and building relationships with partners and stakeholders in the sector. Ethny is a Trustee for Charityworks, sits on the SiLC Board and holds positions on the Steering Groups for the Professional Bodies Climate Action Charter, the Equator Programme and the Weston Communicating Climate Programme. Ethny has a BSc in Biological Sciences with Management from Imperial College London and has a keen interest in wildlife and environmental conservation.

Chief Operating Officer, Broadway Initiative

Matthew joined Broadway in January 2022. He has long experience of working with businesses and government on sustainability issues across a range of sectors, and combines an in-depth understanding of environmental policy with representing business interests to policy makers at devolved, UK and EU levels.Matthew moved to Broadway from one of its business group members; the EIC, and before that spent 3 years as Director of Policy at the Environmental Services Association. Prior to that, he had a number of policy roles at the CBI, including as Head of Environment and Climate Change Policy where he played a key role in cementing business support for binding climate change targets.

Associate, Sustainability and Climate Change, Rider Levett Bucknall

Peter Hayakawa is an Associate on RLB’s sustainability team with over 10 years of experience delivering ESG strategies, policy, delivery and assessment. He has led on climate action and net zero, ESG planning and delivery, as well as green finance, leading Islington’s DEFRA-funded effort to build a finance vehicle for community parks. Social elements of ESG have been a focus of his work—for six years, he lead community benefits and social value procurement for the University of Edinburgh, and more recently, was lead author of a C40 Cities 2022 report on social equity in urban climate finance.

Ian co-ordinates Equinor’s Industrial Decarbonisation Challenge activities for
Zero Carbon Humber, H2H Saltend and Humber Industrial Cluster Plan as well as supporting the wider development of UK hydrogen value chains. He is a Chartered Engineer with a broad energy industry background in operations; technical leadership and project development across
petrochemicals, oil and gas storage and is now applying that experience to industrial decarbonisation and the energy transition.

Ryan is the R&D Sustainability Lead - Global Confectionery at Nestlé. He works across the end-to-end supply chain for Nestlé’s confectionery research & development centre, leading the development of low carbon manufacturing, low carbon product design and the sustainable sourcing of ingredients to meet Nestlé’s commitment to achieve Net Zero carbon emissions by 2050.

EMEA Data Centre Sector Lead, Ramboll

Greg Roberts is Ramboll’s European data centre sector lead and key account manager to some of the sector’s most influential data centre clients. Greg’s technical experience is based on 20 years of advising on environmental compliance, management systems and sustainability. Greg is a Fellow at the Institute of Environmental Management and Assessment (IEMA). He is committed to leading the industry to deliver sustainable digitalisation.

DR DANIEL SLADE

Policy Manager, Royal Town Planning Institute (RTPI)

Daniel is the Royal Town Planning Institute’s Policy Manager. Previously he worked at the Town and Country Planning Association, where he ran the Healthy Homes campaign for improved standards for new homes. Before this he held a number of roles in the world of think tanks, parliament and in government. He has a PhD in planning from the University of Liverpool and is a Chartered town planner.

Business Action Advisor, Business for Nature & Sustainability Consultant, Accenture

Gemma has a dual role. As Business Action Advisor at Business for Nature she helps the coalition with their efforts to scale and speed up business action on nature, notably co-authoring global guidance which outlines priority actions for high-impact sectors to contribute to a nature-positive future. As Sustainability Consultant at Accenture, she works with businesses to improve their impact on the environment and build resilience in the face of climate change and nature loss. Gemma also has experience working across both public and private sectors in the UK on agricultural water pollution, recycling waste to land, land stewardship and nature recovery.

Ferdy Cleare is a Sustainability Consultant at RLB experienced in developing and delivering ESG strategies and managing, analysing and reporting ESG data against internationally recognised frameworks. Ferdy helps lead the social value appraisal service for RLB, and is a specialist in quantification, assessment and reporting of social impacts. He’s led social value work on a wide variety of projects from major housing developments to appraising societal benefits for the NHS. Currently, Ferdy is leading a project to assess the social value of sport investments and community sports clubs across England and Wales.

Josh founded Fothergill Training & Consulting in 2017, specializing in enhancing the effectiveness of environmental assessment through both capacity building, intelligent client roles and advisory reviews.

William is Ramboll's Sector Lead for CCUS and Hydrogen. Since 2002, he has worked extensively in the environment field within Energy (O&G (on and offshore/ greenfield to Decommissioning) Carbon Capture and Storage, hydrogen development and power/transmission), Submarine cables, Transport, Mining, Urban development and Water industries. His experience includes undertaking and managing Environmental assessment, EHS due diligence, Environmental consents and permits, Sustainability Appraisals, Socio-economic Impact Assessment and Environmental Management Systems.

Since she joined AtkinsRéalis Ines has been involved in driving digital transformation in the Environment Business. She is currently leading the development of Pangea, AtkinsRéalis approach to environmental integrated design, which includes our evolution of the digital EIA.

Previously, Alice was a Senior Analyst at Enders Analysis, a London-based TMT research group. She holds an MA in Geography from the University of St Andrews.

Natalie Prosser is a solicitor by background, with fifteen years in government, specialising in public and regulatory law, regulatory operations and governance. Her previous roles have included General Counsel at the Gambling Commission, Director of Operations, Vocational and Technical Qualifications and Director of Legal at Ofqual and regulatory and policy lead on the independent Farm Inspection and Regulation Review. Natalie started her role as Interim CEO of the OEP in February 2021 and was appointed to the role permanently in April 2022.

Nathan leads Ramboll's Environment and Health consulting business in the UK, with a team of 270 consultants using a science-first approach. He has 25+ years of experience working in environmental and sustainability consulting, with deep experience in the energy sector in particular, having provided impact assessment services to many developer clients bringing forward proposals for new generating capacity and grid connectivity. Nathan is also one of Ramboll’s leaders co-ordinating efforts with global Ramboll biodiversity colleagues to provide innovative and nature positive solutions to clients as they respond to the global biodiversity crisis.

Ines Lopes is a chartered senior environmental consultant with over 5 years consultancy experience, with expertise in environmental impact assessment, GIS data analysis, information management and business intelligence with a focus on digital transformation.

Since she joined Atkins Ines has been involved in driving digital transformation in the Environment Business. She is currently leading the development of Pangea, Atkins approach to environmental integrated design, which includes our evolution of the digital EIA.

ALICE PICKTHALL

Head of Research, Environment Analyst

Alice joined Environment Analyst in 2023 as our Head of Research, managing our research outputs including our pivotal ESG Strategies - Accelerating Impact and Net Zero Goals in Consultancy report. Previously, Alice was a Senior Analyst at Enders Analysis, a London-based TMT research group. She holds an MA in Geography from the University of St Andrews.

NATALIE PROSSER

CEO, Office for Environmental Protection

Natalie Prosser is a solicitor by background, with fifteen years in government, specialising in public and regulatory law, regulatory operations and governance. Her previous roles have included General Counsel at the Gambling Commission, Director of Operations, Vocational and Technical Qualifications and Director of Legal at Ofqual and regulatory and policy lead on the independent Farm Inspection and Regulation Review. Natalie started her role as Interim CEO of the OEP in February 2021 and was appointed to the role permanently in April 2022.

NATHAN SWANKIE

Country Director Environment & Health UK, Ramboll 

Nathan leads Ramboll's Environment and Health consulting business in the UK, with a team of 270 consultants using a science-first approach. He has 25+ years of experience working in environmental and sustainability consulting, with deep experience in the energy sector in particular, having provided impact assessment services to many developer clients bringing forward proposals for new generating capacity and grid connectivity. Nathan is also one of Ramboll’s leaders co-ordinating efforts with global Ramboll biodiversity colleagues to provide innovative and nature positive solutions to clients as they respond to the global biodiversity crisis.
